Soundtrack review: Twin Peaks musical archive – the end (Angelo Badalamenti)

We’ve come to the end of our journey through the mysterious and hypnotic world of Twin Peaks. And since we’ve made it this far (190 tracks gone already) the reward is wonderful and well deserved. These final cues are an explosion of heartbreaking love, Twin Peaks style.

One of the best TV show themes ever written, “Love theme from Twin Peaks”, takes over and makes this world its own. Each variation or piece, be it light, slower and darker or wide and beautiful, is more magical than the one before. There’s no more jazz, no more unease, it’s just every note from this theme taken through every filter and instrument and combined in every possible way. “Love theme to falling” is beautiful as a cold mountain stream ending its journey into the sea, while “Love theme intro” takes ethereal to a whole new level… This intro is the essence of this perfect theme. “Love theme farewell” is built like an echo slowly fading away after it breaks your heart.

These final unused tracks where the most precious gems from this collection. The music that David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti conceived will remain as legendary and immortal as the TV show. And the journey is not over… I really hope master Angelo returns next year for the continuation of the series, because his presence is as important to Twin Peaks as that of the woods… Farewell, ghostly and mysterious world…We will meet again…
